2nd NATIONAL MARSHALLESE COMMUNITY COALITION 2023
National Marshallese Community Coalition (NMCC) was formed with the minds and hearts of three Executive leaders from a successful nationwide Marshallese non-profit organization; Kelani Silk with the Marshallese Youth of Orange County (MYOC), Jess Gasper with Oregon Marshallese Community Association (OMCA), and Jendrik Paul with the Marshallese Community of Hawai'i (MCOH). All three Executive Directors formed NMCC to educate other organizations interested in growing their non-profits to acquire resources locally within their communities.
The mission and vision came about during the pandemic in 2020 when covid-19 affected everyone worldwide. The deadly virus reached our families and friends living nationwide and those residing on Marshall Island. When they reached out for help, it wasn't easy for the communities to gather resources to help, so the three Co-Chairs formed NMCC to host a yearly summit to educate other communities on how to gather resources so that we could better prepare our communities for the next pandemic as well as advocating for the health, education, and cultural enlightenment of the Marshall Islands. |
